I’m inspired and in awe of my fellow brother and friend James. I recently attended his pastoral ordination ceremony at his local church. Not only is this man multi-talented, but he’s also very humble. James is a man with love and drive for the Lord but in his spare time, he’s a pilot, trainer, speaker, American Ninja warrior, Beastmaster competitor, businessman and more. Adding to all this, he’s also a great husband and father to three children.
Now consider that a few years ago James was diagnosed with M.S. (multiple sclerosis). When speaking, he mentions how he’s come to view this potentially debilitating disease with positivity. He sees it as an opportunity to give glory to God and use it to his full advantage.
His situation reminds me of Paul’s writing in 2 Corinthians 12:7-9, where Paul says, “And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh…”. We’re never really told what the “thorn” is but we know Paul’s view of his situation was to glorify God.
Read:
Read and meditate on 2 Corinthians 12:7-9. What does this verse tell you?
Pray:
What “thorn” in your life have you asked God to remove but he has or hasn’t? How has this affected your life?
Meditate / Make It Real:
How will or have you use(d) this situation to glorify God?
