Road to Recovery
Recently I felt a prompting to follow up with a fellow brother to catch up and reconnect after not hearing from him for a while. So I sent him a text asking when he would be back around the neighborhood to get together. Immediately after sending the text, he called me.
“Hey, you haven’t heard from me because I was in a motorcycle accident.” “What!” I replied. “Yea, I’m still recovering but in a much better place.” He then recounted the extraordinary circumstances and how for the most part, wasn’t severely injured despite being hit from the back. He detailed how a woman crashed him from the back, causing him to fly off the bike and onto the floor.
By God’s grace, he only suffered a slight scrape, some bruising, and a possible mild concussion, despite not wearing a helmet. He also recounted many other circumstances where he witnessed God’s protective hand at work. “You know, it could have been so much worse. But now, I’m not sure what to make of all this.”
After he finished his statement, I started to see various observations between his life and things I thought he should consider for reflection – most critical, spiritual isolation. His response, “What you’ve just shared is exactly what I’ve been thinking about for the past few weeks. You just helped me to now see things more clearly.”
This story reminds us that we all need to stay in fellowship with one another. Scripture calls believers to encourage, pray over, provide, support, and help each other. United at the foot of the cross, we all come together for one purpose – to be disciples that make disciples. We accomplish this mission through relationships. First with God, then with others.

Pray for God to help you stay in fellowship and support a fellow brother.
