Today millions of people around the world celebrate the resurrection of Christ. This wondrous gift of His Son given by God to redeem us from the eternal death we all deserve. Today, however, I challenge you to replace the “Jesus of faith” with “Jesus of history.”
As Christians, we’re told to believe in Jesus only by faith. Although God does credit us that having faith without seeing is of great value, He also confirms our belief in other ways.
Apologist Crag Hazel states that Christianity is an odd religion. What he is referring to is that Christianity set’s itself apart from all other religions in that Christianity is testable. This difference means you can offer evidence for it, and you can provide evidence against it.
Another key difference between Christianity and other religions is the gift of salvation. With Christianity, salvation, which is reconciliation with God, is a gift from God. Yet another distinction, Jesus is at the center. Other faiths that incorporate Jesus always want to “own” him or use him to push their theology.
Finally, we can turn to the bIble as historical evidence supported by external texts to its reliability as historically accurate.
Today I encourage you to extend and strengthen your faith in the resurrected Jesus by researching the evidence. Take the journey of a lifetime of learning and readiness to share your reasons for believing.
