How to tune into God to hear what he has for you.
The other day during our devotional, one of my sons elected to read a passage in Ephesians that talked about understanding the things of God and his word. Trying to explain this concept n a way he could easily understand, I used the radio,
I’ve always been intrigued by the simplicity of their function and how someone invented the radio. “Radio waves” transmit music, conversations, pictures, and an assortment of information invisibly through the air. These radio waves are invisible and completely undetectable to humans.
Sometimes these transmissions travel millions of miles. However, radio waves themselves don’t carry information. So instead, these radio waves need to be altered or modulated. Radio stations are one of the most commonly known examples of how we can “see” this alteration or modulation process.
Radio waves work because a signal or transverse sound wave overlays the carrier wave, forcing it to change. Radio stations can modulate their carrier waves by either amplitude modulation (AM) or frequency modulation (FM). The way to “listen” to these transmissions in a way that humans can understand is by using a receiver or radio.
A set of electronic components within your radio pick up the signal and then convert this “invisible” electrical energy into mechanical energy. In addition, other parts then amplify that signal to the loudspeaker to be heard loud and clear. In summary, a radio station transmits an invisible signal or message, which is then received by a radio to be heard by the listener.
When I explained this to my son, he understood how God does the same for us. He sends us “heavenly” messages through His word and prayer so that our “receiver” or Spirit can receive the message for us to hear and understand. For this reason, it’s imperative to take time daily to tune into God by reading His word and praying.

Matthew 16:13-17
Now when Jesus came into the district of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do people say that the Son of Man is?” 14 And they said, “Some say John the Baptist, others say Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.” 15 He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” 16 Simon Peter replied, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” 17 And Jesus answered him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah! For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father who is in heaven.
Pray:
Pray for insight, understanding, and how to apply God’s word.
Meditate / Make It Real:
Contemplate and meditate on or memorize the passage. What is God saying to you? Then, determine what you will do with what you’ve learned.
Share / Show:
Share and show what you’ve learned with someone else.
