As I desperately tried to recover files, I eventually came to terms with the inevitable realization my computer hard drive became corrupted. Fortunately, before the crash, I backed up most of the files. I was able to back up essential project files and years of personally valuable data like family photos.
As I was backing up the files, I noticed many worthless files sitting on my desktop. These were all files I thought were needed, but they had little to no value. They were occupying space on the hard drive as well as cluttering my desktop. During the back-up, I also realized many of those files were years old. At that moment, I decided they were no longer going to take up space on the new drive and started purging them.
When I finished, I only kept the most crucial files and rid myself of the clutter. Most importantly, I now have more space on the new drive for saving data that matters.
This story reminds me of how God gave us an incredible mind capable of storing vast amounts of data from memories to experiences. Considering this, we must use it wisely and store up things of value instead of junk. The reason is we will all eventually reference the information on there when we need it most.
What’s in your mind? Take an inventory. Be real; be honest.
Create a plan of action and determine how you will throw out the worthless and replace it with worthwhile things. Be specific. Bonus: Share this with a fellow brother and have them hold you accountable.
